What is the context of the article?
Security Policies govern different aspects of data security in Meddbase. Each policy type (or certificate) governs a set of user permissions. These permissions determine if/how users will be able to interact with data protected by a given policy or certificate, e.g. Company record protected by a Company Policy; Patient record protected by a Patient Policy.
More information on security policies can be found here: Security policies - overview
What is the purpose of the article?
The purpose of this article is to provide a guide on how to interact with the Access Denied pop up box when using Meddbase.
Access Denied
On occasions, security settings may prevent users from performing actions that are fundamental for their job role. Depending on the Security Policy configuration, if the configuration is incorrect or changes are required, users may be blocked from performing key tasks. In such cases, an 'Access Denied' message will appear, allowing users to request the necessary permission from the certificate owner to complete the action"
If the above box appears, this means that the user does not have the required permission(s) to complete that action.
For example, this message will appear when a user without the right to modify patient demographics attempts to change a patient's details.
What happens if a user clicks 'request access'?
If a user clicks 'request access':
1. They will be prompted to give a reason as to why access is needed.
2. The owner of the relevant security certificate - typically a System Administrator - will see a popup on the Start Page prompting them to grant or deny access to the individual.
If access is granted, the individual will be added to the certificate's list of permitted users and the relevant permission will be granted.
If you or a user in your organisation is receiving an access denied message, but you're not sure how to rectify this, please raise a support ticket.
When I click 'request access', I get the following error message: 'cross-company access denied'.
It's likely that the security certificate you are requesting access to belongs to a different chamber. Please raise a support request with the above information included (the username, error message, and steps to produce the message)
