About

You can now add notes to pathology results that are visible when shared to the patient. Simply click Show/Hide review notes to make the Review Notes pane visible. Then, enter your notes into the text box. The notes will automatically appear on each lab result.

If a new result is added after the review notes have been entered, the following text will become visible on the results:

This will disappear once the review notes are updated. If the notes do not require amendment, simply click 'unchanged' beneath the review notes text box and this text will disappear.

Configuration Options

Role groups

Make sure you belong to the Lab Result Admin and Lab Result Reviewer role groups. The latter group will be created automatically in your chamber when you change the setting under Admin -> Work -> Configure Work Types -> Pathology Results -> Assign to Role.

Layout

You can change where the review notes appear on your lab results by editing the relevant template for your provider. The {ReviewNotes} template code governs the point at which the review notes appear on the results.

Enabling/disabling this feature

By default, entering review notes will be optional.

You can make the feature mandatory by going to Work > Configure Work Types > Pathology Results and setting ‘Enter review notes’ to ‘Mandatory’. This will prevent users from sharing results to the patient unless review notes are added and will also disable the ‘Show/hide review notes’ button.

You can disable this feature entirely by going to Work > Configure Work Types > Pathology Results and setting ‘Enter review notes’ to ‘None’.

Troubleshooting

I’ve entered review notes but they aren’t appearing anywhere on the results.

Does your lab result template contain the {ReviewNotes} template code? You can find this out by going to Templates, opening the Pathology Lab Results folder and finding the relevant template for your provider.

I can’t find the Show/Hide review notes button.

Has the feature been enabled? You can find this out by going to Work > Configure Work Types > Pathology Results and checking whether Enter Review Notes is set to None, Optional or Mandatory. If this is set to None, the show/hide review notes button will not be visible.
