What is the purpose of the article?
This article will guide you through how to add a link to your template within the 'Text Template' builder. This can be used for creating and editing both document and email templates.
The following sections are outlined in this article:
- Opening the template editor
- Adding a URL link to a template
- Adding an email link to a template
- Adding a phone number to a template
Opening the template editor
To open your templates, navigate to Start> Templates. Here you will need to select the template you wish to edit, and then click 'Edit'.
From within the template editor, press 'Ctrl+L' or click on the 'Link' icon at the top of the screen.
Adding a URL link to a template
From the 'Link' pop up:
- 'Display Text' (optional) - This is the text you would like to appear in the document, that once clicked will navigate the user to a web page.
- 'URL' - This is where the website that the user will be navigated to should be entered.
Once this has been completed 'OK' can be selected.
From the image below it is visible that the colour of the link is slightly different, again this can be changed using the tools within the template builder.
Adding an email link to a template
From within the Link pop-up in the template editor, it is also possible to add a link to an email. This will enable a draft email to be created when the link is clicked on.
- 'Display Text' (optional) - This will be what is displayed in the template.
- 'E-Mail Address' - This is the email address that should receive the email once the link has been clicked on.
- 'Message Subject' (optional) - This will be the pre populated subject of the email.
- 'Message Body' (optional) - This will be the pre populated body of the email.
Adding a phone number to a template
From within the Link pop-up in the template editor, it is also possible to add a link to a phone number. This will allow users to make a call to this number.
This works best if the user is viewing the document on their mobile, or they have calling capabilities on the computer.
- 'Display Text' - The text that will be displayed in the template.
- 'Phone Number' - The number that you would like the user to connect to once they have clicked on the link.
