In this tutorial, we'll add the price lists we set up earlier to a charge band.
What is a charge band?
A charge band is a set of rules governing what services a payer is eligible for and how much those services cost.
Our clinic sees two groups of self-payers:
- Non-members, who are provided a set of services at a standard rate.
- Members, who are provided additional services and receive a discount on standard services.
Because of this, we'll need to set up one charge band for members and another charge band for non-members.
First go to the Billing Rules page. From the Start Page, click the Admin tile, then the Billing Rules tile.
We'll begin by renaming our default charge band to something more appropriate.
- Click the small + icon next to your company name
- Click on the Default Charge Band
Configuration options for the charge band will appear on the right-hand side.
We'll rename this charge band 'Non-Members', as this is what we'll be putting our non-member patients onto.
Before we can bill patients who belong to this charge band, we'll need to add a price list. From the configuration options on the right, click Add rule...
A popup window will appear allowing you to select rules to add to the charge band.
Click the small + icon next to your company name, then click the Standard Prices price list.
If you then close the popup window, you should see that the price list has been added to this charge band's rules.
Next, we'll create an additional charge band to put our member patients onto.
- Click the small + icon next to your company name
- Click Add rule
- Click New Charge Band...
Configuration options for the charge band will appear on the right-hand side.
We'll change the name to 'Members', as this is what we'll be putting our member patients onto.
From the configuration options on the right, click Add rule...
Click the small + icon next to your company name, then click the Members Prices price list.
If you then close the popup window, you should see that the price list has been added to this charge band's rules.
With that set up, we can begin charging self-paying patients for appointments and services.
