What is the context?
It is possible to carry out configuration to allow patients to book modules and/or services in the Patient Portal when they make an appointment booking. This involves set-up in a range of different areas.
It is similar to appointment types in that it needs configuration of the Patient Self-book rule, but requires further action to be taken.
What is the purpose of the article?
This article explains in outline:
- The steps to make a module available for online booking
- How the module appears on the Patient Portal during appointment booking
How do you make modules available for online booking?
The steps are outlined below.
Step 1 – Configure Appointment Type to be associated with the Module
1.1 From the start page, go to Admin > Appointment Type
1.2 Create an Appointment Type (as outlined in the article Creating Appointment Types)
Step 2 – Configure one or more Services to be used in the Module
2.1 From the start page, go to Admin > Service Management
2.2 Create the service or services to be available (as outlined in the article Creating Services)
Step 3 – Configure Module in Service Management
To do this:
3.1 From the start page, go to Admin > Service Management to view the Service management Module
3.2 Create the Module (as outlined in the article Creating Modules)
3.3 Ensure the Module is associated with the Appointment Type
3.4 Ensure that at least one service that makes up the module is associated with the module
In this screenshot example above, there are multiple services. Services can have restrictions based on sex and age which can control their visibility for booking.
Step 4 – Add the Module to a Patient Self-Book rule
4.1 From the start page, go to Admin > Billing Rules
4.2 Create the Patient Self-Book Rule (as outlined in the article Patient Self-Book Rule)
4.3 Add the Module to the Patient Self-Book Rule
Step 5 – Add the Module to a Price List
5.1 From the start page, go to Admin > Billing Rules
5.2 Create a Price List (as described in the article Setting up Price Lists)
5.3 Add prices for the Module in the Price List

What does this module configuration mean for patients making online bookings?
In the situation where the patient:
1. Has an Online Chargeband that provides access to the Module as part of a Patient Self-Book rule
When the patient:
2. Logs into the Patient Portal
3. Books an appointment
4. Chooses the appointment type to which the module is associated
Then the patient:
5. Can choose the module as part of the appointment booking
