'Credit on File' Changes for Recurring Opayo Payments
The changes we are rolling out allow recurring payments to continue to be made using the Opayo integration while remaining compliant with the new rules.
This involves a number of changes to the structure of the messages we send to Opayo, most of which will happen behind the scenes, and have no impact on what you or your patients see when processing online payments.
The exception you need to be aware of is when creating recurring payments: you will now need to set an expiry date for the recurring payment, which defaults to 1 year.
Additionally, because of the changes required by the new requirements, which are called the Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) and Payment Services Directive (PSD2), making this change will also require all existing recurring payments to expire the next time a payment is due to be taken or when you access and save changes to a patient record with a recurring payment on file. This is to allow the new 'Credit on File' information to be sent when processing repeat payments.
For all the details on what this will mean for you and your patients, please read this thorough Knowledge Base Article relating to these changes, which includes step by step guides of how to action any changes within Meddbase.
