This quarter, alongside our ongoing product development, monthly releases and market expansion we have some exciting news regarding our project work with the NHS - we have published a White Paper based on a joint Meddbase & NHS pilot study, aimed at increasing patient engagement using digital communications.

In event news, Meddbase celebrates its 18th birthday today, October 28th, we are hosting a live webinar on November 22nd, and we will be attending two key industry conferences in November 2022.

NHS Humber and North Yorkshire ICB & Meddbase White Paper: It's Your GP Texting

We have produced a new White Paper on using technology to increase patient uptake of health and lifestyle programmes, such as the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme, which has been co-authored with partners from NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board.

The White Paper details the results of a recently completed pilot project which explored the benefits of using Meddbase to efficiently and reliably identify patients at risk of Type 2 Diabetes.

As part of the pilot eligible patients in the region were invited to participate in the National Diabetes Prevention Programme (NDPP) via ICB-managed text messaging and the project trialled two methods of SMS communication, using opt-in and opt-out invitations.

The study findings, summarised in the White Paper, show a dramatic increase in the uptake of the NDPP, demonstrating that using digital tools, such as Meddbase Pathways, can have a transformative effect on patient engagement and participation in healthy lifestyle programmes  – which rely on process and critical mass to operate efficiently and successfully.

Attend the Webinar

On November 22nd we will be jointly hosting a webinar to discuss the pilot project, and share the key lessons, and we invite you to join the session.

You'll hear more about the study, the methods used and the benefits of using digital communications including patient SMS campaigns to increase patient uptake of your services.

We will be co-hosting the session along with representatives from NHS Humber and North Yorkshire ICB, who will discuss the challenges addressed, the methodology chosen, and the findings and learnings from the study.

Learn how you can apply the methods and strategies used to improve patient engagement and participation within your own region and healthcare setting, and hear directly from the team involved.

Increasing Referrals to Diabetes Prevention Programmes with Meddbase

To find out more about the project, and how the ICB worked with Meddbase to address the challenges of recruiting patients to join ongoing health programmes, read the new post on the Meddbase blog written by Scott Walker, Senior Partnership Officer (Diabetes) at NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board.

In this post he shares his thought process on implementing digital communication tools for more efficient patient communication for patients with pre-diabetes in his region, and the key lessons for other areas and healthcare settings.
