Now Live: End-to-End Visibility for Pathology Requests
Better clarity. Smarter workflows.
When
it
comes
to
pathology,
small
oversights
can
create
big
delays
for
clinicians,
for
staff,
and
ultimately
for
patients.
That’s
why
we’ve
reimagined
the
pathology
workflow
from
the
ground
up.
With
clearer
tracking,
richer
context,
and
better
control
at
every
stage,
this
update
brings
structure
to
complexity,
and
confidence
to
every
request.
It’s
not
just
a
new
screen.
It’s
a
new
way
to
manage
results
from
start
to
finish.
So
what's
new?
|
|
Updated Pathology Request Workflow
We’ve mapped out the full journey of a pathology request from initiation to review. This clearer pathway supports what happens in real life supporting transparency, accountability, and a smoother experience for everyone involved.
Here’s what it looks like:
|
|
Smarter Worklist Views
Your pathology worklist now surfaces what matters most, fast:
-
Filter by Site, Status, Appointment Type, and Abnormal Result Flags
-
View the printed status and requesting clinician directly in the detail view
The impact? Teams can focus on what’s relevant, act faster, and reduce mental load.
|
|
End-to-End Request Tracking
We’ve
introduced
clearer
request
stages
to
improve
visibility:
-
Requested
-
Requested (Awaiting Printing)
-
Plus pre existing Cancelled and Reviewed
|
|
-
Requests
can
now
trigger a task at the point of creation,
not
when
the
first
result
is
received
so
nothing
slips
through
the
cracks
-
You
can
also
cancel requests directly from the request screen,
with
work
items
archived automatically
-
Printed tracking is
now
visible
and
auditable,
making
front-desk
workflows
more
reliable
and
aligned
|
|
Clearer Reviews, Better Decisions
We’ve made results review more structured and trackable:
-
Individual review notes
for
each
ordered
test
-
Review checkboxes to
track,
filter,
and
report
on
reviewed
results
-
A new "Reviewed – Awaiting Results"
status
for
in-progress
cases
-
"Set status for review"
for
shared
or
handover-workflows
(e.g.
a
Doctor
of
the
day
reviewing
abnormal
results
they
didn't
request)
|
|
These
tools
improve
documentation,
support
accountability,
and
ensure
every
results
is
seen
and
actioned. Less chasing. More clarity. Better care.
|
|
Want to enable these?
Some
of
these
tools
are
currently
behind
feature
flags,
which
means
they’re
available
now
but
need
to
be
turned
on
for
your
organisation.
You can request to enable:
- Create pathology work item at point of request
- Display lab tests ordered in pathology results pane
- Enable “reviewed” status for pathology results
- Enable individual review notes per ordered test
- Enable “Awaiting Printing” and restrict lab results states
We’re
making
these
options
available
in
a
phased
approach,
and
plan
to
remove
these
feature
flags
over
the
next
6
months
meaning
they’ll
become
part
of
the
default
experience
soon.
If
you’d
like
to
explore
or
activate
any
of
these
tools,
please
speak
to
your
account
manager
or
the
Support
team.

Now Live: A Safer, Smarter Way to Prescribe
Clinical
safety
just
took
a
step
forward.
We
know
that
behind
every
prescription
is
a
moment
of
trust,
between
clinician
and
patient,
judgement
and
guidance,
safety
and
care.
That’s
why
on
Tuesday 27th May,
we
rolled
out
something
that
might
seem
small,
but
is
built
to
make
a
big
difference:
the SNOMED Review Screen is now live and enabled by default for all clients using prescribing.
It’s
part
of
a
broader
journey
we’re
on
over
the
next
12
months,
making
continuous
improvements
to
clinical
safety
and
experience.
Why this matters:
Having
accurate,
up-to-date
information
at
your
fingertips
is
essential
for
confident
clinical
decisions.
The
SNOMED
Review
Screen
gives
you
exactly
that,
a
clearer
view
and
better
control
of
the
coded
data
recorded
during
consultations.
With
this
update,
you
can
easily
review,
confirm,
or
remove
SNOMED
concepts,
making
sure
what’s
recorded
truly
reflects
your
clinical
judgement.
It
helps
prevent
outdated
or
incorrect
codes
from
triggering
misleading
prescribing
alerts
or
clinical
decision
support.

Smarter Prescribing Search + Formulary Options
When
prescribing,
clarity
and
speed
can
make
all
the
difference.
That’s
why
we’ve
made
two
key
updates
that
help
clinicians
work
with
focus,
and
give
administrators
the
ability
to
shape
the
experience.
Here's what's new:
You
can
now
configure
how
your
prescribing
search
behaves,
making
it
easier
for
clinicians
to
find
exactly
what
they’re
looking
for.
This
setting
controls
how
medication
names
are
matched
as
users
type
in
the
search
bar
and
can
be
configured
in
Admin - Configuration - Prescribing
|
|
-
Contains (default):
Matches
any
part
of
the
drug
name.
-
Search “ceta” → returns Cetavlex and Paracetamol
-
Starts with:
Only
matches
if
the
drug
name
starts
with
the
typed
text.
-
Search “ceta” → returns Cetavlex, not Paracetamol
-
Exact match: Returns
only
drugs
that
exactly
match
the
search
term.
You
can
also
use
wildcards.
-
Search “paracetamol” → returns Paracetamol
-
Search “paraceta*” → returns Paracetamol (with wildcard)*
Whether
your
team
needs
broad
flexibility
or
tight
precision,
you
can
now
tailor
the
experience
to
fit
your
prescribing
style.
And
secondly,
we've
added;
|
|
Control over unlicensed drugs in the formulary
When
enabled,
the
prescribing
search
will
include
unlicensed
drugs
from
the
FirstDataBank
drug
formulary.
This
can
be
useful
in
settings
where
clinicians
may
prescribe
unlicensed
medications
under
specific,
approved
circumstances.
-
When enabled: Unlicensed
drugs
appear
in
the
medication
search
results.
-
When disabled:
Only
UK
licensed
drugs
are
searchable
and
selectable.
System
administrators
can
configure
this
in
Admin-Configuration-Prescribing

Now Available to All: Smarter, Safer Clinician Reassignment
We’ve
all
been
there
with
a
last-minute
change,
a
schedule
reshuffle,
and
the
quiet
pressure
of
making
sure
everything
still
runs
smoothly
for
patients
and
clinicians
alike.
Now,
you’ve
got
a
powerful
new
tool
to
help.
As of 27th May the new Attendee Replacement
feature
is
live
for
everyone
by
default.
First
released
in
April,
it’s
already
helping
teams
save
time,
reduce
errors,
and
book
with
confidence.
What it does:
Attendee
Replacement
makes
it
easy
to
reassign
clinicians
to
appointments,
even
for
complex,
multi-part
sessions.
Whether
you’re
rescheduling
a
single
appointment
or
updating
a
whole
pathway,
you
can
do
it
in
just
a
few
clicks
without
the
second-guessing.
Here’s what makes it powerful:
- A step-by-step wizard guides you through the process
-
It
filters
clinicians
automatically
based
on:
- Real-time availability
- Booking rules
- Required clinician qualifications
-
You
only
see
clinicians
who
are
both
suitable
and
available,
so
you’re
not
stuck
cross-checking
calendars
or
worrying
about
mistakes
Why it matters:
Behind
the
scenes,
there’s
a
lot
of
complexity
but
the
goal
is
simple:
make
it
easier
for
your
team
to
deliver
great
care.
This
feature
gives
you
the
confidence
to
move
quickly
while
protecting
quality
and
compliance.
It’s
small
moments
like
these;
a
smoother
rebooking,
a
better
handover,
a
patient
seen
on
time,
that
keep
your
service
running
strong.

Patient Pre-Placement Questionnaire (PPQ)
We’ve
resolved
an
issue
where
some
users
could
bypass
mandatory
questions
by
only
answering
the
final
one.
Now,
all
required
questions
must
be
completed
before
submission.
Payment Receipt Printing
We’ve
fixed
a
formatting
issue
that
affected
paginated
browser
printing
for
payment
receipts.
Receipts
now
print
cleanly
across
pages.
