What is the purpose of the article?
This article explains the two types of fee splits that can be set up in Meddbase. It also outlines how to configure the rules.
What are the two types of Fee Splits?
Meddbase can be configured such that the primary attendee of an appointment receives a percentage of the net invoice total charged to a patient or a fixed amount for services they perform.
- Fee Percent Rule - the primary attendee of an appointment receives a percentage e.g 50% of the net amount charged to a patient.
- Fee Rule - the primary attendee of an appointment receives a set fee for services provided to the patient e.g £100 of a service that costs £130.
How to configure these features
The steps to configure a Fee Percent Rule and Fee Rule are outlined below.
Fee Percent Rule
1. From the Start Page go to Admin > Billing Rules
2. Add the company
3. Create a chargeband or click on the Default Charge band
4. Click +Add rule
5. On the menu that appears click New Fee Percent Rule...
6. Fill in Fee Percentage Details
7. In the Default Fee Percentage field type in the number of the percentage, the Billing Company should receive.
In the screenshot below the rule that has been configured states that:

- The primary attendee of an appointment receives 50% of the net invoice total charged to a patient (but could be configured to have different %’s per service)
- This rule applies to any services the patient can have (but could be configured to apply to certain services only) this only applies to people who belong to the ‘Consultants’ role group
Fee Rule
1. From the Start Page go to Admin > Billing Rules
2. Add the company
3. Create a chargeband or click on the Default Charge band
4. Click +Add rule
5. On the menu that appears click New Fee Rule...
6. Fill in Fee Details
7. Under Service Fees click on Show All.
Different services will appear.
8. In the blank box with a £ sign before it, type in the amount the Billing Company should receive when a service is invoiced.
In the screenshot below the rule that has been configured states that when Dr Test is the primary attendee of an appointment, he gets a set fee for the following:

- Initial Consultation (30 min)
- Blood Test
If you want the Fee Percent Rule and the Fee Rule on the same chargeband, do the following:
1. Under the company, click on Chargeband
2. On the right-hand side under the Rules section click on +Add rule...
3. Click on the Fee Percent Rule and then the Fee Rule
4. Also, add the Pricelist
You can rearrange which rule is to take precedence. Whichever rule is at the top overrules the rules below if there is ever a direct conflict between the rules, e.g. both rules could provide a price for the same service.
