The next Meddbase release is scheduled for 27th September. A summary of the key improvements planned for this release is outlined here.

Quicker Questionnaires

Appointment bookings can mean pre-appointment questionnaires for patients to complete.

Following this update on the Patient Portal patients can select and fill out questionnaires as part of the online appointment booking process – they will also have the option to select questionnaires online when viewing existing appointments.

This is designed to simplify the appointment management workflow and make the process more convenient.


Portal-Perfect Employee Numbers

In some situations, an employee registers on the Patient Portal. In this scenario, they may want to manage their employee number.

This update allows employees to go to ‘My Account’ on the Patient Portal and view their employee number. To provide some control:

  • Where the number is blank, the employee can add it in.
  • Where the number is already recorded, they can view it in read-only mode to prevent accidental editing.

Tuned Terminology

There is often more than one way to say the same thing. That has been the case in the Meddbase application with the terms ‘doctor’ and ‘clinician’.

Now we have standardised these terms throughout the system and use the word ‘clinician’ to create consistency and avoid confusion.

This is all part of our aim to use standard, recognised and consistent language where this will help our users.


Fine-tuning Forms

Currently when documenting an allergy using the default GP Clinical Form there is an option for 'EpiPen'.

We are going to be actioning a change that will replace the word 'EpiPen' with 'Anaphylaxis' to ensure that the allergy severity options are more logical and not specific to the use of one brand of adrenaline pen commonly used to treat anaphylaxis. 

We will be actioning this as a standalone change out of hours on 27 September, directly before the software release - it will not cause any disruption to your Meddbase access.

As with every release, we're taking the opportunity to squash bugs, improve performance, and ensure the highest levels of reliability. You can access our release notes library here.

Excluding hotfixes, our maintenance windows are as follows:

UK and Europe: Mondays and Wednesdays after 22:30 BST/GMT.
Canada: Tuesdays and Thursdays after 09:00 GMT (03:00 CST) and after 09:00 BST (02:00 CST).

All releases will be scheduled after 22:30 BST/GMT unless otherwise stated. A brief period of downtime can be expected with these times.
