What is the context?
It is possible to carry out configuration to allow patients to book services in the Patient Portal when they make an appointment booking. This involves set-up in a range of different areas.
It is similar to appointment types in that it needs configuration of the Patient Self-book rule, but requires further action to be taken.

How do you make services available for online booking?
The steps are outlined below.
Step 1 – Configure Appointment Type to allow services to be booked on the Patient Portal
Where needed:
1.1 From the start page, go to Admin > Appointment Type
1.2 Create an Appointment Type (as outlined in the article Creating Appointment Types)
1.3 Ensure that the Can book services on portal check-box is ticked
Step 2 – Configure one or more Services to be available on the Patient Portal
Where needed:
2.1 From the start page, go to Admin > Service Management
2.2 Create the service or services to be available (as outlined in the article Creating Services)
Step 3 – Add the Services to a Patient Self-Book rule
Where needed:
4.1 From the start page, go to Admin > Billing Rules
4.2 Create the Patient Self-Book Rule (as outlined in the article Patient Self-Book Rule)
4.3 Add the Services to the Patient Self-Book Rule
Step 4 – Add the Services to a Price List
Where needed:
4.1 From the start page, go to Admin > Billing Rules
4.2 Create a Price List (as described in the article Setting up Price Lists)
4.3 Add prices for the Services in the Price List
Step 5 – Ensure the Billing rules are part of an online Chargeband
Where needed:
5.1 From the start page, go to Admin > Billing Rules
5.2 Add the Patient Self book rule and Price List to an Online Chargeband (as described in the article Creating an Online Chargeband)
What does this configuration mean for patients making online bookings?
In the situation where the patient:
1. Has an Online Chargeband that provides access to the services as part of a Patient Self-Book rule
When the patient:
2. Logs into the Patient Portal
3. Books an appointment
4. Chooses the appointment type to which the module is associated
Then the patient:
5. Can optionally choose the services as part of the appointment booking
